The Italian Riviera is a travel-inspired fan project from the LEGO Ideas program
The model is based on a design by Alex Sahli, a LEGO fan from Portland, Oregon, who submitted the project to the LEGO Ideas program – a platform that allows the community to submit their own ideas for sets. Alex, an avid traveler, translated his memories from a trip through Liguria into brick form. One of the challenges during the design process was maintaining stability with unusual building angles, which was achieved without compromising realism.LEGO characters bringing the tiny village to life
The set includes 10 minifigures that form a small community – from the ice cream shop owner and the fish vendor to a grandmother teaching her grandson how to make traditional trofie, a local type of pasta. There is also a tourist and a scooter rider, further emphasizing the lively character of the seaside town. The scenes even include small details, such as a kitten stealing a fish in a back alley, adding charm to the entire model and inviting builders to recreate their own Italian stories.
The life and atmosphere of the Italian Riviera’s colorful buildings
Outside, the eye is drawn to pastel facades, distinctive balconies, winding staircases, and charming architectural details such as colorful shutters and tiny ground-floor shops. Everyday life unfolds in the streets – residents chat, the fish vendor offers fresh catches, a tourist takes photos, and children play in front of their homes.Inside, each townhouse hides its own story: at the ice cream shop, one can buy traditional Italian gelato; in the kitchen, nonna teaches her grandson to prepare trofie pasta and focaccia; and the diving shop is stocked with all the accessories needed to explore the coast.
Roofs and floors can be lifted off to reveal furnished interiors – a kitchen, dining room, and small shops with an oven, a cooking lesson table, and shelves full of local products. All of this encourages creating personal stories, playing out scenes from village life, and admiring the unique atmosphere of Southern Europe.

The LEGO Ideas Italian Riviera (21359) will be available from August 7, 2025 (for LEGO® Insiders) and from August 10 (for everyone).
