Groundbreaking LEGO Death Star 75419 Design: A Cutaway Instead of a "Globe"

The most significant difference compared to previous versions is the modern, cutaway form of the space station. Instead of the classic, closed “globe,” LEGO has proposed a structure resembling a massive slice—as if we’re looking inside the Death Star and seeing several iconic interiors from the movies all at once. This solution allows for the presentation of many famous scenes in a single model.

Wealth of Details and Minifigures

The set includes a staggering 38 minifigures, making it the absolute record holder in this category in the history of LEGO Star Wars. Among them you’ll find, among others: Luke Skywalker (in both Jedi and Stormtrooper versions), Han Solo, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, various droids—including a humorous hot tub Stormtrooper (a visual nod to the LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game series). Each character has been recreated with attention to detail, and some have several variants, making it possible to reenact specific scenes from the films.

Famous Scenes Under the Bricks

Building the Death Star, we recreate the most important places and moments from the Star Wars trilogy (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi):
  • Princess Leia’s Cell – the famous scene with the cropped hair and blue dress.
  • Emperor’s Throne Room – the legendary lightsaber duel and the politics of the dark side.
  • Tractor Beam Control Center – where Luke, Han, and Chewie rescue Leia.
  • Trash Compactor – the scene with the Dianoga in the vast, “rat-tailed” labyrinth.
  • Imperial Shuttle Hangar – with an entrance for TIE Fighters, and even a miniature TIE Fighter model.
  • Vader’s Cool Quarters – the chamber where the Sith meditates and plots the empire of fear.
  • Miniature tunnels, elevators, control panels – lots of hidden details for connoisseurs.

This is not just a model for display, but also an interactive toy—you can open doors, slide walls, raise and lower elevators, or even… place a Stormtrooper in the hot tub. Every element can be freely assembled, modified, and played with, because LEGO remains a toy at heart.

Previous Death Stars 10188 and 75159

Previous versions of the Death Star (10188, 75159) had the classic, closed spherical form and a recognizable interior design, but were much smaller—about 4,000 pieces, a maximum of a dozen minifigures, and the price at launch was much lower. These were sets with a much more toy-like character, even though they were also aimed “for older builders” (16+). The new Death Star (75419) is a clear step towards a collector’s model—it’s no longer just a toy, but an object for display, a real “show of force” for LEGO and Lucasfilm.

Stellar Bonus: TIE Fighter with Hangar

During the launch period (October 1–7, 2025), buyers of the 75419 set will also receive the TIE Fighter™ with Imperial Hangar Rack (40771)—a miniature TIE Fighter that can be attached to the main set, thus expanding the imperial space station. This is a gesture to the most loyal fans.

LEGO Star Wars Death Star is an excellent investment—previous sets from this series quickly gained value as collector’s items, and the new model will likely be retired from production just as quickly.
